The department has six teaching laboratories and two preparation rooms.
At KS3 years 7, 8 and 9 currently study Science through a 'spiral' curriculum that revisits and builds on previously studied units. The units cover the three main areas of Science Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
One member of staff teaches pupils for the entire year, although pupils may be transferred between groups in order to maintain progress.
At KS4 various courses are offered. All pupils follow at least one Science
subject which could be GCSE Science or BTEC National Science (counts as two
GCSE's in Science). The GCSE Science course consists of six modules tested
during year 10 and 11.
Some pupils will take Additional Science GCSE allowing them to achieve two
GCSE Science awards.
Advanced Level GCE's are available in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
