The department is located at the top of the Tower Block in rooms V1 and V2. It also has a dedicated ICT facility which is room V3. It is hoped that this room will be moved to the top of the tower block in the near future.
The department delivers a range of VGCSE courses to KS4 worth 2 GCSE’s. AS/A2 courses are offered in Business Studies, Health and social care and Travel and Tourism in years 12/13.
The department began several new courses in September 2007 including CACHE level 3 for year 12/13 and bricklaying for year 10 as new options.
Results in the department have been very strong at A level with Business Studies pass rate being 100%, Health and Social Care at 85% and Travel and Tourism at 75%.
All CACHE L2 students have successfully completed their qualification by the autumn term.
The use of ICT within the department is strong and it is used to enhance the quality and presentation of portfolio work, which is an essential element of all the courses.
